From time immemorial, gold has always played an important part of our lives. In its natural form gold is already shiny and beautiful, found in flowing waters, where people likely first beheld this precious metal.
Gold is a precious metal found in most parts of the world. In its pure form gold is soft and malleable, and therefore not ideal for setting rubies, diamonds, or precious stones. Gold alloys for jewelry are a combination of gold and other metals.
Gold in its pure form (24K) is too soft for many jewelry applications. For jewellery, it is usually an alloy of gold other metals, lending different colors to the precious metal. Yellow gold is often an alloy of gold, copper, silver, and zinc. Gold alloyed with silver has a greenish tinge. Red gold is a gold and copper mix. White gold is a combination of gold and one or more white metals.
The precious metal gold represents hopes and dreams, as illustrated by the expression, “A bucket of gold at the end of the rainbow.”
Gold is featured in folktales, legends, and fantasies. This precious metal truly plays a magical role in human life.
